The prepositions of place can sometimes be difficult for any student. In this article we Will give you information and the necessary tools to master them, so you never feel out of place. But remember to practice them with exercises, and to incorporate them into your vocabulary.

In

The preposition of place In is used when an object or subject is located in a tridimensional space, a country or a city, or when said object or person carries out an activity inside of a place.

Below 

Below is used when a person or object lies beneath another person or object, but without any physical contact. In case that there is physical contact, then you will use the next preposition that we will explain to you.

Under

In case that the person or object is located below another person or object and there is physical contact, then the preposition under is used.

Above

This preposition is used when something lies on top of a subject, object, or place, but not in a direct or parallel manner.

On

This preposition is used to highlight that an object is in a position above an object, person, or place.

At

The preposition At signals that an object or person is located in a specific place.

In front of 


In 
front of is used to manifest that an object or person is located ahead or at the front part of something or someone.  

Between 

Between signals that a person or object lies in the middle of two or more people or objects.

Behind

This preposition is used when a person or object is located in a far, rear position of another object or person.

Next to 

Next to is used to indicate that a person or object is located adjacent to another person or object.
